The heart is in the cognac

17th Feb '17

The famous musician and composer Frederic Chopin was so afraid of being buried alive that he asked the funeral services to withdraw his heart from his body after his death. While his body is indeed at Père-Lachaise, his heart has been resting in cognac for more than 160 years in the Church of the Holy Cross, in Warsaw, his home town. The burial place in the parisian cemetery “Le Père Lachaise” is one of the most remarkable monuments of the place; It is a work of Auguste Clésinger, inaugurated in 1850 and now classified as a historical monument.
